Rebus Puzzles

A rebus is an allusional device that uses pictures to represent words or parts of words. It is a surprising old concept having been used as a precursor to the development of the alphabet, and therefore this process represents one of the most important developments of writing. Fully formed hieroglyphs read in rebus fashion were in use at Abydos in Egypt as early as 3400 BC.

Nowadays it the rebus is usually used as a light-hearted brainteazer and to this end I have represented tonight's programme in rebus format (there are even a couple of puns included, just to keep everyone on their toes). Just a word of warning, one of the dances has only ever been danced once at Wembley and not, as far as I know, at any of the other local groups - as a clue it's from the RSCDS Book 49 but you'll have to work out which rebus it is!

How many can you get? All will be revealed on Monday!
